Fall 2021 Dissertation Fellowship

The UC Santa Cruz Feminist Media Histories Initiative, funded by Professor Shelley Stamp’s Presidential Chair, will be sponsoring two fully-paid Dissertation Fellowships in Fall 2021 to support advanced doctoral research on feminist histories of media. Applications are due June 4, 2021.

Applicants must be UC Santa Cruz doctoral students who have advanced to candidacy at the time of application, who expect to graduate by June 2022, and who have not received a Dissertation Year Fellowship for 2021-22. Students may be affiliated with any department or division and may be pursuing creative and/or scholarly work. Priority will be given to dissertation research that highlights feminist histories of film, radio, television, video, playable media and/or other media technologies in any time period or global context.

Summer 2021 Funding for Graduate Students

The UC Santa Cruz Feminist Media Histories Initiative invites applications for Summer Funding from graduate students pursuing research in the area of feminist media histories. Five $5,000 Summer Fellowships will be awarded for Summer 2021.

Summer Funding Stipends are open to UC Santa Cruz students currently enrolled in any graduate degree program whose research and/or creative practice charts feminist histories of media such as film, radio, television, video, games, digital media and/or other technologies in any time period or global context.

Applications are due Friday, May 7, 2021. Applicants will be notified by Friday, March 21, 2021.

Summer + Fall 2020 Grant Funding for Feminist Media Histories Research

Announcing two new funding opportunities to support research in feminist histories of media at UC Santa Cruz, sponsored by the Feminist Media Histories Initiative and Presidential Chair, Shelley Stamp.

Faculty may apply for funding to support hiring a Graduate Student Researcher in Summer 2020. Three grants of up to $6500 for GSR salary are available. Applications are due May 31, 2020.

Advanced doctoral students may apply for a fully-funded dissertation fellowship in Fall 2020. Applications are due May 31, 2020.

Funding Available for Spring 2020 GSRs

Announcing two new funding opportunities to support research in feminist histories of media at UC Santa Cruz, sponsored by the Feminist Media Histories Initiative and Presidential Chair, Shelley Stamp.

Faculty may apply for funding to support hiring a Graduate Student Researcher in Spring 2020. Priority will be given to projects that will employ a student who does not already have funding for Spring 2020. Applications are due March 13, 2020.

In 2018-19 $1,500 Research Travel Grants will be awarded to three graduate students and one faculty member.  Applications are due March 15, 2019.

Also in 2018-19 $1,500 Conference Travel Grants will be awarded to three graduate students and one faculty member.  Applications are due March 15, 2019.
